License management

One Pro license, one active device. Here is how activation works and what each tab on the license page does.

How activation works

A Pro license is a single key tied to you, not to a machine. You activate it in the extension's Options page by pasting the key. Each activation registers a pseudonymous device with a friendly name you choose. A license is active on one device at a time; move it from the license page when you switch machines.

The extension revalidates at most once a day. Pro state is cached for 30 days, so a network outage never locks you out of features you paid for. Devices that do not check in for about 30 days get flagged as idle, but flagging does not free the slot — to actually free an activation you remove the device yourself from the license page.

The license page

Everything below is done at whatthecss.dev/license. It has three tabs.

Find a key

Lost your key? Enter the email you bought it with. We send the key plus the list of currently activated devices to that address. For anti-enumeration the response is the same whether or not the email matches an order, so check your inbox rather than the on-screen message.

Manage devices

Enter your key to see every device the license is active on, with its OS, activation date, and last-seen time. Remove any device to free a slot. The machine you are on is marked so you do not deactivate yourself by accident.

Deactivate

For when you sold a machine, lost a laptop, or are reinstalling the OS. Enter the key and the device name to free that slot immediately. It is reversible: re-enter the key in the extension's Options page on that machine to activate again.

Working across machines?

One license covers one device at a time. Switching machines is free from the license page; if you need two active at once, buy a second license. Team licensing is on the roadmap. Questions: support@whatthecss.dev.
